Vancouver has long been given the nickname ‘Hollywood North’, due to the breadth and mass of productions filmed there. It is unsurprising then, that the city is drawing a rich, varied, and international talent pool. Among this pool, is a strong group of women, who met on the set of Disney Freeform’s Siren, a show where mermaids are driven to a small fishing village, and turmoil follows.
Covid saw a pause in the industry world wide. A time to breathe. Take stock, reflect. Now that productions are swinging back, Vancouver, with its relatively low cases, and rigid Covid rules, is finding itself in a place where it can successfully film vast amounts of projects safely.
Vancouver based women, both on and off camera, are enjoying a moment where productions aren’t looking to bring in ‘outside’ talent, because you don’t need to quarantine people that are already on the ground, ready to work. In a city now booming for the film industry, Vancouver talent means serious, experienced, and talented individuals, like these women, who have moved here because they are committed to delivering solid honest performances.
